Maine Molecular Quality Controls, Inc. (MMQCI), located in Saco, Maine, designs, develops, manufactures, and sells unique quality control products used by hospital laboratories to monitor the accuracy of tests for inherited disease, pharmacogenetics, oncology, and infectious diseases. GENERAL SUMMARY:
We’re searching for an experienced, high energy, chief financial officer (CFO) to join the MMQCI team and keep our finances positioned for continued success. The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, wearing many hats, including, budgets, financial forecasting, oversight of the Accounting and HR teams, HR policy, and business compliance with filings with various organization. The CFO will play an important role in the implementation of our new ERP system. The CFO will be a member of the management team and responsible for advising the president on strategic direction. The successful candidate is highly organized, has strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills. The CFO reports directly to the company president and works closely with the management team and staff.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the financial and HR functions in the company by taking responsibility (hands-on and via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting and analysis to help drive the company’s financial and hiring strategies.
- Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
- Serve as a key role in the implementation of MMQCI’s first ERP system which is currently in-process.
- Work with management team to develop HR policy that supports MMQCI’s culture of respect, transparency, collaboration, empathy and growth for all employees while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Oversee HR operations by coordinating with external service providers (ex: payroll, benefits, recruitment) and internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR.
- Oversee, develop, train and manage the accounting and HR teams as the company grows.
- Ensure compliance with financial and accounting regulations.
- Manage the relationships with company bankers, lawyers and outside accountants.
- Coordination with outside accountant for preparation of federal and state tax returns.
- Prepare and manage budgets and projections.
- Manage federal, state and local financial regulatory matters including sales tax compliance, property taxes, Maine PTDZ reporting, and other required business fillings.
- BA/BS in Business Administration or Accounting is minimum. Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance is preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in executive financial leadership roles is required.
- Experience working with fast-changing priorities of a small company.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting standards is required.
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant) is preferred.
- Knowledge of a wide range of HR practices including policy development, benefits administration, hiring and compensation practices; familiar with employment regulation compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Well-organized and able to multitask and manage multiple priorities at a fast pace.
- Focuses on the big picture while paying attention to detail.
- Strong team player.
- Interested in MMQCI’s mission to contribute to the highest standard of patient care.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with outside parties including customers, vendors and advisors.
- Recent experience using QuickBooks Desktop is a plus.
